A promise that outlasts all of us
Many of the animals who reach Jarjeer arrive after thirty years of work. The youngest arrive as foals, and may live thirty more. A gift in your Will, of any size, keeps our promise to them: rest, healing and dignity, for as long as they live.

That vow became a sanctuary of more than 300 horses, mules and donkeys near Marrakech, cared for every day by a team of 22 people from 14 local families. Those who reach the end of their days here are laid to rest with dignity on the land at Jarjeer. A gift in your Will helps make sure the gate is still open for the ones who have not found us yet.
The things people most want to know
Your family and loved ones always come first. A gift to Jarjeer is whatever feels right once they are looked after.
A gift of any size makes a difference. There is no amount too small to matter here.
You can change your mind at any time. A Will is yours to update whenever life changes.
You do not need to tell us. But if you have remembered us, we would love the chance to say thank you.
Please take independent advice. A solicitor or professional Will writer will make sure your wishes are exactly as you intend.
A share of what remains
Known as a residuary gift: a percentage of your estate once your loved ones and wishes are taken care of. It keeps its value over time, and many people find it the most natural way to give.
A fixed sum
Known as a pecuniary gift: a set amount of money, named in your Will. Simple, clear, and every pound of it works here at the sanctuary.
Gifts to charity and inheritance tax
Gifts to charity are taken off the value of your estate before inheritance tax is worked out. If you leave 10% or more of your net estate to charity, the inheritance tax rate on the rest reduces from 40% to 36%. Your adviser can explain exactly how this would apply to you.
Suggested wording for your solicitor
For a share of your estate
“I give [all / a share] of the residue of my estate to Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Trust, registered charity number 1183446, of 131 Winchester Road, Basingstoke RG21 8XR, for its general charitable purposes, and I direct that the receipt of a trustee or other proper officer of the charity shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.”
For a fixed sum
The same wording, with “the sum of £[figures] ([words])” in place of the share of residue.

Giving in memory
Some of our most treasured support arrives in memory of someone loved: a donation instead of funeral flowers, a collection at a service, or a gift on an anniversary. Rescued animals here have been given the names of people and much-missed animals remembered this way, so a name lives on in a new life at the sanctuary.
